Thinking of you, Dad...

Tomorrow, my Dad will have a procedure done at MD Anderson Hospital. It's nothing major at this point, it should be an outpatient procedure. We should have some pathology results on Monday. Dad's Hepatitus C is also flaring up again. I'll be thinking of you, Dad. Have a good day tomorrow...well, as good as you can. See you soon. I love you.

How to Cure a Cold...

...play some football! Well, i'm not cured yet, but i feel much better than i did earlier today. Yesterday i started coming down with something...sniffling, sneezing, slight sore throat, and just the yucky feeling of blah. I debated whether or not to even play tonight, but i decided to give it a shot. Well, after playing tonight (BTW, the MudDogs won again tonight, 31-14), i feel much better. I wouldn't say i'm cured yet, but i feel as though i am on the way to recovery. I will do my usual Vitiman C and hydration and Nyquil or Dayquil to take the edge off. I should be 100% within a few days...oh yeah, i'll get lots of sleep too.

On another note, T.S.A.H. has started painting again, after a 2 year hiatus. I've decided that i'm pretty particular about what i paint. I didn't like the first painting i did, so i painted over it. That's the beauty of acrylics. I'm not 100% satisfied with what i have, but I think i know what i want to do to it. Perhaps i'll post pics of it when i'm done. I'll even sell them if you are interested?! hehe...

Well, i'm going to drug up now and get ready for a good night's sleep.

Twas the Morning, Early Morning, After Thanksgiving...

And Best Buy was having some spectacular deals that were too good to be true...well, that was the case for those of us that didn't show up to stand in line the previous night. There is nothing in that store that i couldn't live without...especially to give up my time and sleep to stand in line for half a day. I just sacrificed about 3 hours of my time and sleep...so that wasn't too bad. I didn't come away with anything this morning...my product was sold out within i'd say 15 minutes of the doors opening.

As the line wrapped around the back of the building complex and down the darkened street, i knew that my chances were slim, if that. However, i was up and warm so I decided to stick it out and do some people watching. This was the true entertainment of the morning. People were very civil. But when the doors opened and once people were in the store it was as if an ant hill had been disturbed. Everywhere there were people scattering for the hot items, swarmging them and covering them. The lines to check out were extremely long, wrapping up and down the ilses. I was entertained as i walked slowly throught the store while everyone else was at double speed...it was almost surreal.

I ran into Lisa Parris and Melissa Wallace while there. They had collected the items they came for and I decided to walk with them through the twisting and turning checkout lines...it made my time worth it just talking with those two.

So, I showed up about 3:15 in the AM, and was back in bed by about 6:45. I was a bit disappointed that i couldn't get my TV. In fact, i almost bought a more expensive one to make my time really worth it...but in the long run decided not to do that...i'll do a little more research and get one that i am familiar with. I don't think i'll find any deals as great as today, but I'm sure there will be some good deals out there.

I will say that Best Buy has the process down on how to deal with a hungry, salivating crowd. This crowd was civil and there were no incidents to speak of. Once inside the store the traffic moved freely...although you had to twist and turn and to avoid the grabbing hands. But kudos to Best Buy for their holiday process...it works.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are recovering nicely from the abundance of food. And for those of you that braved the black friday crowds, i hope you got everything you were out there to get...

Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving...

And i'm flying the space station tonight in support of Russian EVA #17. Two crew members will take an evening stroll in outer space tonight to play some golf and fix a few other things. The last golf stunt to take place in the space program was Alan Shepard's drive on the moon during the Apollo 14 mission. Tonight, the Russian cosmonaut will take a whack at a golf ball from the ISS for a commercial endeavor. It should be interesting...The golf ball should remain in orbit for 2-4 days before re-entering the atmosphere--for the longest golf shot in history...or something like that.

Tomorrow will be my first holiday since the heather incident. I don't think this one will bother me as much as Christmas will. In fact, i've decided that i'm not doing any Christmas decorating this year (heather used to do it all). I don't want to crawl into the attic and pull down all those memories. So, my house will be devoid of all things Christmas...

Everyone Experiences Defeat...

And tonight was the MudDog's turn to experience defeat. We were beaten tonight, by the only undefeated team to date. We knew that one of us was going to go home with a loss. These guys were good...they picked us apart and ran us into the ground. I'd like to think that we were their toughest adversary. Unfortunately, i don't think we'll get a second chance with these guys. And as if kicking a dog while it's down, the refs were making some poor calls. None of these calls would've reversed the outcome (most likely wouldn't), but it's just adding insult to injury -- No, i did not get injured again. The new definition of offsides is "the entire offensive line must jump while the ball is held stationary, and at least one defensive player must cross the neutral zone." Yes, boys and girls, that is the definition...at least tonight it was.
The temperature was in the low to mid 50s -- good football weather. It's just too bad we walked away with a loss. I think we still have the second best record in the league but 2nd best is the 1st loser...next week should be better.

Super Sunday

Wow...today was a super busy day. The day started off with some Sunday touch football. This is our typical saturday pick up game crowd, but we pushed it to Sunday to so that a couple participants could move into their new house. It was a great turnout...we almost had enough to have 2 complete football teams...I still suck as a quarterback, but i had a decent day as a receiver.

After football, i had some automotive work to do. Recently the Cruiser has been running a little rough, droppin down to 3 cyclinders at times...well, just missing every now and then. It hasn't been that long since I changed the plugs out on it, so i figured it was the plug wires. What would be a fairly simplistic task on any other car is a pain in the butt on the Cruiser. In order to change the plug wires and or the spark plugs, one must remove the intake manifold ducting and the throttle body. A pain in the rear...but i was able to whip that task out in about 45 minutes. Took the Cruiser for a test run and it did well, no hesitation and responded well to throttle inputs. I think this has solved the problems that i've been having with the cruiser...I'm pleased that the plug wire change went so well and was so effective.

And to cap the day off, I went to the Houston Aeros game tonight with a friend from work and her roommates. This was my first Aeros game this season, and i plan on returning. We hit the cheap $12 seats, which aren't that bad...they are actually pretty good seats. Within the first 10 minutes of play, there were three fights and a couple of scores. Sadly, the Aeros were defeated with 26 seconds to play. It was an exciting game otherwise. During the intermissions, we were entertained by a couple of little black boys from Tiger Cub Scout Troop #381. These kids were sitting in front of us (the young one was probably 6, and the older one probably 9 or so). These kids had some killer moves. I don't know where they learned to dance, but man...that was some entertainment that i didn't expect. Erin and I were discussing how these kids reminded us of a young tarik, or at least how we envisioned a young tarik would act. Now all we need to do is get ahold of some young tarik video to prove our theories. Bust a move...

I think my Mt. Dew is broken...

While sitting on console tonight, I felt a little sluggish, a little tired. I figured i'd grab myself a Mt. Dew and spring alive. Not so was the case. I had to wonder if my Mt. Dew was broken or not...You see, not only is Mt. Dew a tasty beverage, but it is also the magic potion that wakes you up...gives you an impression that you are alive and quite frankly can make you hyper as hell. It just didn't work for me tonight. And i really thought it would since i don't drink that much caffiene anymore.
Well, i'm off to bed...I hope your Mt. Dew works for you...

Victory Birthday Celebration

Tonight the MudDogs pulled out another victory. However, it was not our best night. We won 12-7. I had a few defensive opportunities but i couldn't grab the flag...until the game was on the line. The other team was pushing towards the goal with time running out...and they were using the clock. I was able to finally grab that damn flag for what was probably a 15 yard sack. This put them at 4th down with a long way to go for the touchdown. Next play they threw an interception to the birthday boy. Today was Cory's birthday. Following the victory, we celebrated the birthday and victory at Boondoggles...a local watering hole... Erin, Cory's girlfriend, baked a cake and after the celebratory meal, we filled ourselves with some yummy chocholate cake.

I know i've been a bit lazy with the blogs lately. Some nights you just don't feel like writing anything...well, that and there really hasn't been much talk about.

Well, the holidays are upon us. I'm not looking forward to the holidays this year, so i hope they pass quickly. Luckily, i'll be keeping busy with work for some of that.

MudDogs Win!!!

Another victory for the MudDogs. We had another pretty good game tonight. We gave up a few interceptions and a few missed plays, but other than that...we did well. I think the score was 13-0. I had one reception for nearly a touchdown. I had a lot of green field ahead of me and a few guys to beat. Unfortunately, my bum leg didn't allow me to score. I was also out of gas for all the running that i had been doing. But...i just need to build up my conditioning. Oh, and my leg hurts something fierce. I've already started heat treatment. Hopefully the pain will go away soon. But i think i'll do the icy-hot and other treatments throughout the day. I'm ready for this to heal...but i'm not ready to skip a week of football...

Ok...time to put down the angry music and listen to something that'll make you laugh. I chose Mitch Hedberg, who had a unique delivery...one that made you chuckle just from the delivery alone. As of tonight, there is a clip of Mitch on my Myspace page.



Next is a longtime favorite of mine, Adam Sandler. I remember him from the days of Saturday Night Live. Since then he's done quite a few movies. Anyway, both of these albums will make you break a little smile...if not bust out loud in a happy chuckle.



HOUSTON AREA ISS SIGHTING tuesday evening around 6:50pm and thursday around 5:57pm. Thursday's sighting will be the best at over 3 minutes long.

I remembered a few things...

I've added a link to the ISS Sightings webpage. This way you can see when the ISS is flying over head in your neighborhood. I'll keep the local Houston area informed of certain sighting opportunities, but those of you that visit my blog in other states (Washington, Virginia, Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Michigan, Indiana, California, Illinois, New York, Nebraska, Ohio, Georgia, Mississippi, etc) will have to look periodically yourself.

So, with that, Houston area residents will have an opportunity to watch the station fly over starting sunday evening. The best opportunity will be Monday evening and Thursday evening.

And this week/weekend, I should be in the Dallas/Fort Worth area gearing up for NASCAR. Josh, Lisa, (and i think Lisa's parents), Jeff, and Lauri are enjoying what must be some beautiful weather and racing. I hope you guys have fun and take a lot of great pictures! Looking forward to seeing them when you get back. I'll be watching the race from my living room. I'll see if i can spot you! hehe...

What was I gonna say...

Well, it seems that i can't remember what i was going to post about. I had a few ideas throughout the week and those ideas have just vanished. Perhaps working too much is taking a toll on my mind? Perhaps the ideas will return.

Yesterday on my way to work, Friendswood's Finest pulled me over for doing 28 in an 20. Thank you officer Gonzales for pointing out the error in my ways. Unfortunately Officer Gonzales' verbal warning allowed me to run out of time for lunch. I had intended to stop somewhere between home and work to get a bite to eat before my meeting and a long day on console. Needless to say, I didn't eat very much yesterday...just nibbled on the candy that is still on console.

Today is the last work day of the week and what a long week it has been. This will be another 50+ hour week. Being increment lead is taxing work, but i am satisfied that i am busy.

Well, until i can remember what i was going to post about, you'll have to suffer through random musings such as this post...
