This past week has been a very trying time for my family. My brother and sis-n-law lost their unborn baby, Logan Elijah Horelica, a mere 10 days before the due date. As he was moving down into the birth canal, the umbilical cord became wrapped around his neck. This is unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence.
By the time i got to San Antonio, Jessica had given birth and her and Brandon were spending time getting to know their son. In tragic times like these, the parents don't often thinkhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif about preserving this moment. While this isn't the memory one wants to preserve, it is the beautiful pictures of remembrance of a newly born child that helps the families begin to heal. Luckily there is an organization that provides those services to families in this situation. That organization is called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. As I arrived the photos were being wrapped up. A very nice gentlemen was there to take professional photos of our little angel, Logan. While I have not seen the photos yet, I'm sure they will be precious. These services are at no cost to the families. If you are looking for an organization to donate to this year, I implore you to reach out to this organization. You can bet that I will be making a donation to this organization in Logan's name.
Another organization that I will be donating to is called Threads of Love. Threads of Love provides gifts of love to the families of sick infants, premature infants, and infants that did not survive. These gifts consist of hand made items such as bonnets, gowns, blankets, and other items. Volunteers across the country take the time to makes these items to show the families in need that they are loved.
There is also another organization that provides hand painted keepsakes for the families of infants lost. I, unfortunately, don't know the name of this organization. I will find that out and post it here. Jessica was so moved by this organization that she wants to help by hand painting boxes for those families in need.
These 3 organizations brought a touch of comfort to Brandon and Jessica. These treasured keepsakes and photos will help Brandon and Jessica heal. Additionally, if they are blessed with other children, they will be able to show their children that Logan was their brother.
While the grieving process has just begun and there are many tears left to cry, organizations like those listed above do warm your heart and give you a sense of hope. To keep that hope alive, please donate if you can.
