Have You Ever...

Have you ever been shit on? I mean, not the "I-feel-like-i've-been-shit-on-cause-my-
coworker-dumped-a-load-of-work-on-me" shit on, but literally been shit on? Wait...don't answer that.
Well, i know what it's like to be shit on. Carla and I worked out tonight. We hit the Smoothie joint next door to enjoy a tasty smoothie. We chatted for a bit and then I walked Carla back to her car. On that trek, a friggin' pigeon dropped a dollop of butt pudding right on my shoulder. Although, the first 3 seconds i didn't realize that. I thought it was one of the flying insects that were buzzing the lights that night. But when it didn't move, i tilted my head to the left to see a tri-colored plop of the freshest bird poop in the local Friendswood area.
Carla just burst into uncontrollable laughter...in fact, i'm willing to bet she's still laughing right now. You see, she saw the whole tragic episode unfold in the proverbial slow motion. She laughed and laughed and cried and nearly snarfed and nearly peed her pants. I don't think she could even breathe.
Ok, so, yeah, it was really that funny.

Shoot...You Can't Fool Me...

Yesterday, at the age of 71, George Carlin passed away.
He's a legendary comedian who was on the edge...

He's probably most famous for his "Seven Words you can never say on Television" routine. It's crude and rude...but funny. That was his type of comedy...on the edge and very clever.

In addition to the "Seven Words", i always liked the "Shoot...Shoot is Shit with two "O's"...you can't fool me."

We'll miss you George...

Freebies

As i mentioned yesterday, Delilah had her first scheduled maintenance today. I also had Infiniti replace the tint on my window that wasn't done properly the first time. They were accommodating and had me scheduled in.

I arrived a few minutes early and they promptly took Delilah to the service bays to get her oil and oil filter changed. That in itself didn't take too long. A part of their complimentary 24 month service, I get a car wash with every service. This saved me about 3 or so hours of washing/detailing. I appreciate that service.

The tint guy finally got there (they outsource the tint guy). I could see Delilah's nose from where i was sitting. I waited and waited and waited. I saw the tint guy drive away...well, at least the truck he drove up in. So, i thought i was finished. Not the case. It seems that the tint guy wanted to take my key fob for a trip around the clear lake area. Of course i didn't know this and Infiniti didn't know this until someone started asking questions.

Because i was inconvenienced by this, Infiniti decided to give me a free tank of gas. In this day of $4 per gallon, I think i was appropriately paid for my time. Before i left, i wanted to get a sunshade for Delilah. Infiniti carries custom made shades that fit the windshield perfectly for each make of car they sell. I expected to pay for this. Unfortunately, Infiniti doesn't have the custom made EX35 sunshades available...and they won't be available for a few months. I decided to go with a G35 sunshade because the two vehicles are similar. The service guy i was working with asked me if i received a sunshade when i bought the vehicle. To which i replied, "yes, that's why i need this one." Ok, so i just thought that...I told him that i hadn't received one and he handed me the sunshade and once again apologized for my inconveniences.

So a few hours of my time yielded me a free tank of gas and a free sunshade. I like freebies...but i'd rather get them when when i'm not inconvenienced.

Eleven Days

Ahhhh...and here you thought i was ignoring you. Forgotten. Left out. Not so my loyal readers. I'e been on somewhat of a vacation...from blogging. I spent the last eleven days flying spacecraft. I had the rockstar shift...5pm-ish to 2am-ish. We really didn't have much going on on our shift. We put the crews to bed and then took care of planning for the next day(s). We were known as the planning shift.

This was my second flight as the front room for the planning shift. I will say that this, the ISS portion, was a rather smooth flight...even more according to plan than my flight last summer. The orbiter and her crew are still in orbit and are scheduled to land on saturday. Once the wheels come to a complete stop, we can then declare this mission a complete success.

I am extremely tired right now though. It doesn't matter which shift you work, a mission sucks the life out of you. Eleven days in a row is a long time. We have work guidelines that prevent us from working more than 12 days in a row. Luckily we didn't extend the mission any.

Despite having the mornings/early afernoons off, i didn't get accomplish too much. I did hit the gym every other day though. It was nice to go to the gym in the morning when there wasn't many people there. I don't know if i'll be able to keep it going once i start working regular hours. But i'll give it a shot.

I've been very bad when it comes to playing guitar. I've only practiced my set once during the 11 day span. Just never seem to get the motivation. I am tryin to get back to that this week.

Tomorrow, Delilah gets her first checkup. She'll get her oil changed as well as the tint replaced on one of her windows...all courtesy of Infiniti. The tint has a lifetime warranty...and i get free oil changes and maintenance for the first 24 months.

I have a few other errands that i'd like to take care of tomorrow too. So, i think i'm going to take advantage of my 4 day weekend and try to relax a bit...as well as catch up on things that i've been neglecting.
