Above Earth Aerospace LLC has slightly improved headquarters. Everett and I spent the weekend on a little DIY project -- the hangar floor. Sure, it would be been easy to not put down a new floor...especially in a rental space. We spent a lot of time at Hangar 4 this weekend. Time that could've been used flying or just relaxing. But it looks nice, doesn't it? Well, it's not just an aesthetic touch. It serves a practical purpose. We plan to do some maintenance in there, and the epoxy floor covering we put down is resistant to chemicals (oil, gas, grease, etc). That should make for easy cleanup.

We had to get the floor done before the afternoon storms of the late spring and early summer got here. We didn't want the plane to sit out in inclement weather or the beating sun for too long. I would've like a little more time to allow the epoxy to cure properly, but we feel that we did allow enough time to put the plane back. I guess we'll see what it looks like when we next roll the plane out.

We have plans to add more comforts of home...say a little refrigerator for cold tasty beverages for those thirsty moments following a long flight. We will be adding a work bench and some free standing cabinets. We also plan to fly the flags of our Alma Maters.
All in all, I'm pleased with the finished product. It's not perfect and I'm okay with that...i think. Although I do demand some level of perfection. After giving up 2.5 days for power washing and painting, and countless hours of floor scraping, I'm gonna call this a victory. I hope the few blemishes I saw doesn't get under my skin...
Hopefully the next post will be more flying than hangar...
